Football Recap: Thomas Jefferson Skates Past King William with Ease

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Thomas Jefferson walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the King William Cavaliers 42-8. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Vikings had established a 21-point advantage.

Daeron Ferguson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 131 yards and three scores on only 11 carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Robertson Jr, who rushed for 73 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Thomas Jefferson proved: they limited King William to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. While two picked up at least 11 total tackles, Ferguson stood above the rest. He rushed for 131 yards and three TDs on only 11 carries. Thomas Jefferson didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.1.

Thomas Jefferson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Amare Gough.

Thomas Jefferson has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for King William, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4.

Looking ahead, Thomas Jefferson is taking a road trip to face off against Armstrong (Kennedy) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 31 points in their last nine matchups. King William does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
