Basketball Recap: Madie Mammoser Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Warren

Stockton won the last time they faced Warren and things went their way on Thursday too. The Stockton Blackhawks enjoyed a cozy 47-33 victory over the Warren Warriors. Given the Blackhawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Warriors are ranked 521st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Stockton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Madie Mammoser out in front who posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. Mammoser has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 19 times she's played. Katelyn Winters was another key player, putting up 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Stockton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Warren had strong showings from Lizzy Hartzell, who went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points in addition to seven boards and four steals, and Mayci Mullen, who earned ten points. That was a full 36.4% of Warren's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Emily Vanraalte, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Stockton's record now sits at 17-8. As for Warren, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-13.

Stockton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 47-31 defeat against Amboy on the 1st. As for Warren, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-29 loss against Black Hawk on the 1st.
