Clovis hasn't had much luck against Volcano Vista recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Clovis Wildcats will take on the Volcano Vista Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Clovis is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season.

Clovis is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Hobbs, who was ranked first at the time (Clovis was ranked ninth). Clovis had to suffer through a 69-27 loss at the hands of Hobbs. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-17.

Amanda De La Rosa was Clovis' leading scorer, having posted ten points. De La Rosa also led the team in assists with two.

Meanwhile, Volcano Vista ended up a good deal behind Rio Rancho on Wednesday and lost 61-45. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clovis will need to focus on slowing down Zoey Loretto, one of several Volcano Vista players who made an impact when they last played. She posted ten points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Mia Zuniga, who earned 13 points.

Clovis' loss dropped their record down to 21-7. As for Volcano Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-11.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Clovis has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Volcano Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Clovis ended up a good deal behind Volcano Vista in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, losing 66-49. Can Clovis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
