Softball Recap: Leander Comes Up Short

Leander blew Belton out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Belton got their revenge. The Leander Lions fell just short of the Belton Tigers by a score of 2-0. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Scarlett Geurin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had over her last six contests.

On the hitting side, Leander saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rachel Grundei, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Leander's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Belton, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leander will host Hays at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Belton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gatesville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
