Baseball Game Preview: Dayton Bulldogs vs. Elizabeth Minutemen

The Dayton Bulldogs will take on the Elizabeth Minutemen at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Dayton got the win against Plainfield by a conclusive 14-1. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Frank Dasti made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Dayton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-7 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Michael Ramirez and Niko Sieminski did most of the damage at the plate: Ramirez went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Sieminski got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Sieminski a new career-high. Mikey Corea was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth earned a 9-4 victory over Brearley on Tuesday.

Albert Maldonado was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliezer Cepeda, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Elizabeth lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Dayton's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Elizabeth, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
