Basketball Recap: Houston County Takes a Loss

Houston County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the McEwen Warriors. The Fighting Irish were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 76-71.

When it comes to explaining why Houston County lost, don't look at Casen Clark. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 14 on his way to 22 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hagan Honeycutt, who posted seven points and six assists.

Houston County's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for McEwen, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Houston County will head out to take on McKenzie at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for McEwen, they will venture away from home to challenge Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
