Softball Game Preview: Irvington Vikings vs. Mission San Jose Warriors

The Irvington Vikings will head out to face off against the Mission San Jose Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Irvington and seven for Mission San Jose.

Irvington lost 13-6 to Washington on Monday.

Maya Briones was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Diya Vacin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Mission San Jose's offense. They came up short against Moreau Catholic on Tuesday, falling 11-0.

Irvington's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Mission San Jose, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Mission San Jose's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Irvington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .441. It's a different story for Mission San Jose, though, as they've only averaged .184. Will they be able to contain Irvington's hitters?

Irvington came out on top in a nail-biter against Mission San Jose when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 6-5.
