The Woodcrest Christian Royals are taking a road trip to face off against the Ontario Christian Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ontario Christian took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Woodcrest Christian, who comes in off a win.
On Friday, Woodcrest Christian beat Ramona 6-2.
Matthew Kim made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Woodcrest Christian is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-11 otherwise. Kim was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other pitching news, Seth Avila tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Woodcrest Christian let Aiden Cook and Austin Anderson run wild. Cook went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Anderson went 2-for-3 with three runs. Anderson is becoming a predictor of Woodcrest Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-12 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, Ontario Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 15-3 to Aquinas.
Dean Cruz was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Cohen McKeehan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
Ontario Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Woodcrest Christian, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 11-12.
Woodcrest Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Ontario Christian in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Royals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
