While Effingham's win against Hutsonville/Palestine wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hearts had just enough and edged out the Tigers 2-0. The victory was nothing new for the Hearts as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Not much got past Saige Althoff, who gave up just six hits to keep Hutsonville/Palestine off the board. Althoff has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Effingham's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Keagyn Koenig, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Effingham's record is now 17-6. As for Hutsonville/Palestine, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.

Looking ahead, Effingham will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Teutopolis at 4:30 p.m. As for Hutsonville/Palestine, they will square off against Arcola at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
