Baseball Game Preview: Fowler Redcats vs. Morro Bay Pirates

The Fowler Redcats will face off against the Morro Bay Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Fowler is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over Tehachapi. Winning may never get old, but the Redcats sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Meanwhile, Morro Bay had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by exactly seven runs.

Morro Bay got a great performance from Eli Brown as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Quentin Crotts, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Joseph Skaggs was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Fowler pushed their record up to 27-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Morro Bay, their victory bumped their record up to 25-6.

Everything went Fowler's way against Morro Bay when the teams last played back in May of 2019, as Fowler made off with a 10-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
