Basketball Recap: Madisyn Douglass Key Part of a Team Effort in Comets Win

There's no place like home for Caston, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Everything went their way against the Bethany Christian Bruins on Friday as the Caston Comets made off with a 45-21 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Comets have posted since February 2, 2024.

Caston got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Madisyn Douglass out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which Douglass has scored at least a third of Caston's points. Another player making a difference was Grace Colvin, who posted 12 points.

Caston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Bethany Christian still got an impressive performance from Karlee Crume, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Adrienne Chupp also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

The win snapped Caston's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-12 record. As for Bethany Christian, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-14.

Caston will take on North Miami at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bethany Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-22 loss against Bremen on the 18th.
