Baseball Preview: McLean County Cougars vs. Marshall County Marshals        
        
		
            The McLean County Cougars will venture away from home to  face off against the Marshall County Marshals  at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. McLean County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7  runs per game  this season.
McLean County came out on top against Hancock County  on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Cougars took their   game against the Hornets   6-3. The game was the first time the Cougars have beaten the Hornets on their field since May 11, 2021.

 Connor Mitchuson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off   two  hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than two  hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate,  going 3-for-4 with one  home run, two  runs,  and one  stolen base. That  home run was  his first of the season.
 In other batting news,  Houston Whitaker was  excellent,  going 2-for-4 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  RBI. That's the most  hits  he has posted  over his last ten  contests.
 McLean County  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hancock County struck out six times.
 Meanwhile, Marshall County entered their tilt with St. Mary on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Vikings 9-2. The Marshals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six  runs or more this season.
 McLean County is  on a roll lately: they've  won 14 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record  this season. Those  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Marshall County, they pushed their record up to 19-9 with the  victory, which was their seventh straight  at home.
 McLean County might still be hurting after the  11-4 loss they got from Marshall County  when the teams last played  back in March of 2016. Can the Cougars avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
