 Sadly, St. Stephens is still looking for their first win of the season after five  contests. Their  tough  7-1 loss to the East Lincoln Mustangs  on Monday might stick with them for a while. The result was an unpleasant reminder to St. Stephens of the  12-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in April of 2023.
  Anicka McFarland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and six unearned) runs on one hit. Those a  hit set a new season-high mark for her.
 On the hitting side, St. Stephens saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Kallie Canipe, who  went 1-for-3 with  an  RBI.
 On East Lincoln's side,  Emery Pethel and  Kaitlyn Gust did most of the damage at the plate:  Pethel  went 2-for-3 with a  triple, two  RBI,  and a  run, while  Gust  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-2. Gust is on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as she's  now  stolen  at least one in the last three games she's  played.
 St. Stephens' loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for East Lincoln, the  win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-3.
 St. Stephens didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  match,  a  12-6  victory vs. Hickory on the 19th. As for East Lincoln, they will head out on the road to  face off against  North Lincoln at 7:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. East Lincoln's pitching crew has only allowed three  runs per game  this season, so North Lincoln's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
