Basketball Recap: Newton (Home School) Starts Season with Loss at Home

Newton (Home School) unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 54-26 loss at the hands of the Wichita Defenders HomeSchool Defenders. If the Mustangs were looking for revenge after losing 49-12 to the Defenders when the teams met back in February, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Newton (Home School) saw an underclassman step up: freshman Hannah Hoelscher posted six points and 12 rebounds.

The victory got Wichita Defenders HomeSchool back to even at 1-1.

Newton (Home School) has already played their next matchup (against Flint Hills Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Wichita Defenders HomeSchool, they will take on Sunrise Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
