Basketball Recap: Western Dubuque Comes Up Short

Western Dubuque was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a hard 71-54 fall against the Hempstead Mustangs. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bobcats came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Mustangs are ranked 233rd).

Western Dubuque's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Hempstead, with the win, they broke their ten-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western Dubuque will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cedar Falls at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Hempstead also won't see the court for a while: their next match is against Washington at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
