Baseball Recap: West Aurora Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

West Aurora won against Joliet Central last Thursday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Blackhawks were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Glenbard South Raiders. The Blackhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

Zach Toma spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Oscar Alexander Jr. and Mason Atkins did most of the damage at the plate: Alexander Jr. scored a run while going 3-for-5, while Atkins scored three runs while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Chase Yusi, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

West Aurora pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Glenbard South, they moved to 5-5 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Aurora will welcome West Chicago at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Glenbard South, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Francis at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
