Volleyball Recap: Athens Academy Takes a Loss

Athens Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Darlington Tigers. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Athens Academy's offense was headlined by Sally Swann and Nika Zalac, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Lucy Wages and her 21 assists. Ginna Dugas controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Athens Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Darlington, the win keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Athens Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Tucker on the 16th. As for Darlington, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Harris County on the 16th.
