Baseball Recap: Glenn Starts off Right with Win over Southwestern Randolph

Glenn gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Southwestern Randolph Cougars 8-7.

Gabe Eller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Eller was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.

In other pitching news, Logan Stump looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Eller wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Winters, who went 4-for-5 with four runs and one triple. The dominant performance gave Winters a new career-high in runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glenn will welcome Mount Tabor at 6:00 p.m. on March 4th. As for Southwestern Randolph, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Asheboro at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
