Volleyball Recap: Payson's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Payson came tearing into Monday's match with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the ALA - Ironwood Warriors by a score of 3-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Longhorns also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Payson had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 25-23, 26-24, 25-18.

Payson can attribute much of their success to Jenna Schinstock, who had 14 digs and two assists.

Payson was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive games.

Despite the loss, ALA - Ironwood still got an impressive performance from Emilee Rodriguez, who had 25 digs and two assists. Rodriguez has been hot recently, having posted 14 or more digs the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Symantha Ortega, who had 15 digs.

Payson's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for ALA - Ironwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-12.

Payson has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against San Tan Foothills on the 23rd. As for ALA - Ironwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Northwest Christian on the 23rd.
