Volleyball Recap: Yellow Medicine East Comes Up Short

Yellow Medicine East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westbrook-Walnut Grove Chargers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Sting of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

While Yellow Medicine East ultimately came up short, they really made Westbrook-Walnut Grove work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-14, 21-25, 25-14.

Leah Vandewiele had an outrageously good game for Westbrook-Walnut Grove as she had 24 digs and three assists. Those 24 digs gave Vandewiele a new career-high.

Yellow Medicine East's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Westbrook-Walnut Grove, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yellow Medicine East will take on Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, Westbrook-Walnut Grove and Central Minnesota Christian will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
