Caleb Nixon commands the offense for Mountaineers win

The Ashbrook Greenwave typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the Kings Mountain Mountaineers proved too difficult a challenge. They pulled ahead with a 72-71 photo finish over the Greenwave. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Kings Mountain.

Kings Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Nixon, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nixon has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradley Floyd, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.

When it comes to explaining why Ashbrook lost, one person who can't be blamed is Issac Byers Jr. Despite the final result, he shot 7-for-9 from long range and dropped a double-double on 38 points and ten rebounds. Jamari Smith was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.

Even though they lost, Ashbrook smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kings Mountain only pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.

Kings Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Ashbrook, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-3.

Kings Mountain will take on Huss at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Huss will be up against Kings Mountain's rather soft defense (which has allowed 54.56 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing. As for Ashbrook, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Crest at 7:30 p.m. Crest has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,043 points over their last 14 matchups.
