Mahtomedi had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They put the hurt on the North Polars with a sharp 65-41 victory. Given the Zephyrs' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Polars are ranked 243rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mahtomedi's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.7 points over those games. As for North, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Coming up, Mahtomedi will be playing in front of their home fans against Two Rivers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North, they will head out on the road to square off against Park at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
