Softball Recap: Metea Valley Mustangs vs. DeKalb Barbs

Metea Valley had lost six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 4-12 to make it seven. They fell just short of the DeKalb Barbs by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Barbs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-11 last Friday.

Metea Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aleyna French, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

As for DeKalb, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

On DeKalb's side, Addison McKiness spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. McKiness has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
