League recap: Davis' hot bat leads Centennial

Pioneer league recap: 3/27/13

Tyree Davis was on fire this week, as he led Pioneer with a .636 average, one home run and 12 RBIs. Meanwhile, Centennial put together a 1-2 week.

The league's top pitcher this week was Lawndale's Sergio Blandon. He struck out 11 batters this week.

North led the league with 37 runs scored this week, but the Apaches still hold the season lead with 87 runs.

Centennial gave up just three walks last week, ensuring that it held on to the top spot in the league in that category with only 21 allowed for the season.

17 batters hit over .400 this week. They were led by Kyle Ulanday, who hit .800 this week (4-for-5).

Ranking first in average, hits and runs batted in, the Apaches' Davis has been the league's most productive player at the plate this season. This season Davis has feasted on opponents pitching with a .550 average and 19 RBIs thanks to 22 hits.



George Escobedo led the Cardinals to a win on March 20, as he notched 11 strikeouts to beat Environmental Charter, 10-0. Over his six innings pitched he allowed zero runs on zero hits.

El Segundo's Wilem Mostert threw seven shutout innings in a 1-0 win over St. John Bosco on Tuesday. He struck out four, allowing five hits.
