Softball Recap: Vista del Lago Ravens vs. Arlington Lions
Vista del Lago had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-14 to make it five. They lost 10-0 to the Arlington Lions. The Ravens were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lions from their previous meeting back in February of 2023.
Vista del Lago saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lailene Jimenez, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
As for Arlington, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.
On Arlington's side, Taylor Schulte tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Schulte has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sophia Tavaglione, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Lorena Ricasa was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vista del Lago will challenge JW North at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Arlington, they will square off against Roosevelt at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
