Football Recap: Port Charlotte Pirates vs. Zephyrhills Bulldogs

Port Charlotte dropped to 8-2 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They and the Zephyrhills Bulldogs were almost perfectly matched up, but the Pirates suffered a 49-48 loss. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Port Charlotte still got an impressive performance from Logan Flaherty, who rushed for 124 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 143 yards and one TD.

As for Zephyrhills, they pushed their record up to 10-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 40.0 points this season.

Zephyrhills' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Patrick Harding, who threw for 416 yards and six touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Those 416 passing yards gave Harding a new career-high. Kingston McCullough was Harding's top target, picking up 174 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

As of now, neither Port Charlotte nor Zephyrhills have any future games scheduled.
