Baseball Game Preview: Monroe City Panthers vs. Mendon Unity Mustangs

The Monroe City Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Mendon Unity Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Monroe City is headed out to face Mendon Unity after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Monroe City sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over Silex on Friday.

Meanwhile, Mendon Unity posted their closest win since April 25, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Macomb 5-3.

Sawyer Allen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Allen was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Allen wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Simon Rabe, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Monroe City came up short against Mendon Unity in their previous matchup back in March of 2018, falling 8-3. Can Monroe City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
