Basketball Recap: Reed-Custer Takes a Loss

Reed-Custer lost against Lisle back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Reed-Custer Comets took a 53-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lisle Lions. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Reed-Custer saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alyssa Wollenzien posted ten points and four steals. What's more, Wollenzien also posted a 60% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January of 2024. Morgan Toler was another key player, putting up four points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Reed-Custer was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Ally Russell had an outrageously good game for Lisle as she almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Russell is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ally Doering, who scored 15 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Reed-Custer's loss dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Lisle, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-18 record this season.

Reed-Custer wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 42-30 win against Peotone on the 15th. As for Lisle, they have also already played their next contest, a 41-29 defeat against Herscher on the 13th.
