Recap: Howard Huskies vs. Mary Persons Bulldogs
The Howard Huskies had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 47-39 victory over Mary Persons on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Howard also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2023.
Mary Persons' loss came despite strong showings from Nemo Jones and Malaki Knight. Jones dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Knight scored six points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Jones pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Howard's win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Mary Persons, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Howard won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Griffin at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Griffin is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Mary Persons, they will be playing at home against Pike County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pike County is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
