Softball Recap: Orland Comes Up Short

Orland extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 11-5 in the process. They lost 7-0 to the Las Plumas Thunderbirds. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Trojans were not able to get on the board.

Orland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Cutshall, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for Las Plumas, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.4 runs.

On Las Plumas' side, the result came thanks to Kendal Headley's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. Headley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Las Plumas let Brooklyn Atteberry and Presley Carlson run wild. Atteberry went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Carlson went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Marli Benedict, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Orland and Las Plumas will both be playing Live Oak the next time they take the field. The Thunderbirds will head out to face the Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Trojans will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
