Football Game Preview: Sumter County Panthers vs. Carver Tigers + How To Watch

The Sumter County Panthers will face off against the Carver Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated (Sumter County has seven wins , while Carver has 20 dating back to last season).

Sumter County barely beat Spencer the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers blew past the Greenwave 51-14 on Friday. Considering the Panthers have won six matchups by more than 28 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ishmael Jones produced another solid performance rushing for 62 yards and one TD, while also throwing for 125 yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Carver never let their opponents score on Thursday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 48-0 victory over Shaw. The Tigers are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the sixth game they've won by 20+ points this season.

Carver's win came from a few key players Sumter County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kelston Tarver, who rushed for 117 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries. Tarver is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 109 every time he's taken the field this season. Jakobe Caslin was another key player, gaining 148 total yards and two touchdowns.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Carver, racking up 15 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Zach Watts, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Carver's defense and their 19 sacks. Jaiden Taylor led the group effort, picking up four of those sacks all by himself.

Sumter County's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Carver, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 7-0.
