Basketball Recap: Caliche Skates Past Denver Waldorf with Ease

Caliche came tearing into Monday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Denver Waldorf Spartans, posting a 67-19 victory. Given the Buffaloes' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Spartans are ranked 294th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Caliche to victory were Hallie Lewis and Alexis Breidnebach. Lewis dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten steals, while Breidnebach went 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points along with eight boards and five assists. The dominant performance also gave Lewis a new career-high in assists (five). Another player making a difference was Ryann Svoboda, who posted eight points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Caliche smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Caliche's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.0 points over those games. As for Denver Waldorf, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

Caliche wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 41-35 victory against Prairie on the 13th. As for Denver Waldorf, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-13 win against Victory Prep Academy on the 13th.
