Baseball Recap: River Ridge Falls Short of Wesley Chapel in the Playoffs

River Ridge and Wesley Chapel squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but River Ridge had to settle for second. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 8-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Royal Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.

Jacob Hitchcock was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cameron Kessell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Brayden Rivera was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

River Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Wesley Chapel, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-14 record this season.

As of now, neither River Ridge nor Wesley Chapel have any future games scheduled.
