Softball Game Preview: Northwest Indians vs. St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish

The Northwest Indians will head out to take on the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Northwest's last matchup with Tuscarawas Valley could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Wednesday. Northwest came up short against Tuscarawas Valley, falling 10-4.

Lily Lyons was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lola Bleakley, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, St. Vincent-St. Mary came up short against Field on Saturday and fell 7-3. The loss continues a trend for the Fighting Irish in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost four in a row.

Avarie Mays made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Ella Kim was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Northwest's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for St. Vincent-St. Mary, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Northwest skirted past St. Vincent-St. Mary 7-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northwest since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
