Swainsboro's success was spearheaded by the efforts of A'Acaylah Murphy, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Quin'Tasia Boynton, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards. Murphy is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Swainsboro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Toombs County suffered their biggest defeat since January 17th on Saturday. They were outmatched by Savannah Country Day and fell 56-28. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 428th, while the Hornets are ranked 146th).
Swainsboro will have to keep a close watch on Arianna Hill and Makayla Brewton, a pair of players who had a big impact on Toombs County's prior game. Hill posted 14 points and seven boards, while Brewton put up eight points in addition to ten rebounds and six steals. Brewton has become a key player for Toombs County: the team is 2-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 4-15 otherwise.
Toombs County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. As for Swainsboro, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Swainsboro hasn't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 7.6 turnovers per game. It's a different story for Toombs County, though, as they've been averaging 30.2 turnovers. Given Swainsboro's sizable advantage in that area, Toombs County will need to find a way to close that gap.
