Baseball Recap: Kiefer Sets Scoring Season-High Against Boswell

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kiefer). They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Boswell Scorpions on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Trojans with their most commanding win of the season.

Kiefer got a great performance from Koi Birdtail as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Birdtail has become a key player for the Trojans: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Owen Murphy was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Phillip Crabtree was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

The victory (which was Kiefer's third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Boswell, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-4.

Kiefer has already played their next match, an 11-4 defeat against Kremlin-Hillsdale on the 20th. As for Boswell, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Pioneer-Pleasant Vale on the 21st.
