Volleyball Game Preview: McClatchy Lions vs. Mesa Verde Mavericks

The McClatchy Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Mesa Verde Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. McClatchy is looking for their season's first victory.

McClatchy came up short against Monterey Trail on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

Mesa Verde won the last time they faced Pioneer, and Steven Boone did his part to make sure it happened again. Mesa Verde walked away with a 3-1 win over Pioneer on Monday with plenty of help from Boone, who had nine assists and five digs. Those five digs gave him a new career-high.

Mesa Verde walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 21-25, 25-16, 25-17.

McClatchy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Mesa Verde, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

McClatchy came up short against Mesa Verde when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 3-1. Can McClatchy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
