Volleyball Recap: Lola Johnson Key Part of Team Effort in Aces Win

Mulberry Grove won the last time they faced First Baptist Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Aces won by a set and slipped past First Baptist Academy 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Aces.

Mulberry Grove had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-18, 25-17.

Mulberry Grove's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lola Johnson, who had seven digs and two aces. Those seven digs gave Johnson a new career-high.

Johnson wasn't the only good server: Mulberry Grove was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive games.

The victory got Mulberry Grove back to even at 3-3. As for First Baptist Academy, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-5 record.

Looking ahead, Mulberry Grove will venture away from home to challenge Dieterich at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for First Baptist Academy, they will be taking part in a tournament against Calvary Baptist Christian Academy at 2:45 p.m. on Friday.
