Softball Recap: Uniontown Red Raiders vs. Mt. Pleasant Vikings
Uniontown had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 9-9 to make it four. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mt. Pleasant Vikings. If the Red Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 5-0 to the Vikings when the teams met back in May of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Mt. Pleasant, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games.
For Mt. Pleasant's part, Danica Trainer 2027 made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Trainer 2027 has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Layla Gratzinger 2028 was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Ella Alakson 2025 was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Uniontown has already played their next game (against Charleroi), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Mt. Pleasant, they will host Franklin Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
