Basketball Recap: Midtown Skates Past Paideia with Ease

Midtown entered their tilt with Paideia on Saturday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Paideia Pythons 63-14. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Pythons are ranked 355th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Midtown was led to victory by Hailey Wortmann and Devin Bockman. Wortmann dropped a double-double on 18 points and 19 rebounds, while Bockman went 9 of 21 en route to 26 points and three steals. The contest was Bockman's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Cate Barton was another key player, putting up no points in addition to eight boards, six assists, and five steals.

Midtown's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.0 points per game. As for Paideia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Midtown will host Creekside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Paideia, they will head out on the road to square off against Atlanta International at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
