Football Game Preview: Orting Cardinals vs. Steilacoom Sentinels + How To Watch

Orting hasn't had much luck against Steilacoom recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cardinals will host the Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated after four games, but that won't be the case come Friday.

Orting took a 28-point loss the last time they faced off against Franklin Pierce, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Orting won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Franklin Pierce 43-42. Orting's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Kyle Curtis produced another solid performance throwing for 310 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81% of his passes, and also rushing for 82 yards on only five carries. Those 310 passing yards gave him a new career-high. 90 of Curtis' passing yards were hauled in by Israel Shrode.

Meanwhile, Steilacoom got the win against Clover Park on Thursday by a conclusive 34-12. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Sentinels' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 223rd).

Steilacoom's win came from a few key players Orting will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaleo Johnson, who picked up 149 receiving yards and one score. He got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 75 yards. Another passer making a difference was Titus Kaeka, who threw for 273 yards and one TD on only 16 passes.

Orting's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Steilacoom, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 4-0.

Everything went Orting's way against Steilacoom in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Orting made off with a 34-14 win. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sentinels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
