Basketball Game Preview: Eden Prairie Eagles vs. Hopkins Royals

Eden Prairie hasn't had much luck against Hopkins recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eden Prairie Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Hopkins Royals at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Eden Prairie sitting on four straight wins and Hopkins on 11.

Last Tuesday, everything went Eden Prairie's way against Chanhassen as Eden Prairie made off with an 87-64 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Eagles have posted against the Storm since March 4, 2020.

Meanwhile, Hopkins took their game on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 102-74 victory over Waconia. The Royals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Hopkins' win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Eden Prairie, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Eden Prairie ended up a good deal behind Hopkins in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, losing 80-65. Can Eden Prairie avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
