Basketball Recap: Farragut Takes a Loss

Farragut lost against Bearden two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Farragut Admirals took a 72-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bearden Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Admirals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked sixth).

When it comes to explaining why Farragut lost, don't look at Dominic Vanacker. Despite the final result, he went 11-for-21 to rack up 29 points and six rebounds. Daniel Lanning was another key player, going 7-for-10 on his way to 15 points and three steals.

Farragut's loss dropped their record down to 18-13. As for Bearden, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-4 record this season.

Farragut does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bearden, they will face off against Maryville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Maryville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.
