Softball Preview: Myrtle Hawks vs. Jumpertown Cardinals
The Myrtle Hawks will head out on the road to take on the Jumpertown Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Myrtle took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Pine Grove a 10-0 shutout. Myrtle's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Jumpertown, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Myrtle took their win against Jumpertown in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 23-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Myrtle since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
