Recap: Simsboro Tigers vs. Sterlington Panthers
The Simsboro Tigers waltzed into their contest Wednesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They walked away with a 70-59 win over Sterlington. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Sterlington had strong showings from Cooper Nelson, who scored 28 points along with four steals, and Khristian Johnson , who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. The matchup was Nelson's 15th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sam Frazier, who scored two points along with five steals.
Simsboro has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Sterlington, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 8-7.
Simsboro's road trip will continue as they head out to face Beekman at 5:15 p.m. on December 29th. Beekman is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games. Sterlington won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Oak Grove at 7:00 p.m. on December 28th. Oak Grove is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
