Soccer Game Preview: Eastern Randolph vs. Providence Grove

Eastern Randolph is 0-10 against Providence Grove since March of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Randolph has given up an average of 4.4 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Eastern Randolph is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals on Thursday, they were much more limited against Trinity on Wednesday. They lost 7-0 to the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, Eastern Randolph can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 412th, while Trinity are ranked 200th).

Meanwhile, Providence Grove entered their tilt with Wheatmore on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 3-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Providence Grove hit Wheatmore with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Taryn Waugh, Anna Winstead, and Rylee Stover.

Providence Grove's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those three games. As for Eastern Randolph, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7-2.

Eastern Randolph suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Providence Grove when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
