Basketball Recap: Glenmora Falls Short of Avoyelles Charter in the Playoffs

Glenmora and Avoyelles Charter squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Glenmora had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Avoyelles Charter Vikings and fell 73-41. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Vikings are ranked 46th).

Leading Avoyelles Charter to victory were Jalen Brown and Armonii Benjamin. Brown went 10-for-16 to rack up 30 points and five steals, while Benjamin shot 55% from the field en route to 14 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Benjamin a new career-high in assists. Ronnie Day was another key player, putting up six points and eight boards.

Glenmora's loss dropped their record down to 16-19-1. As for Avoyelles Charter, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-7.

Glenmora does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Avoyelles Charter, they will face off against Pitkin on Friday. Avoyelles Charter knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Pitkin likes a good challenge.
