Football Recap: Tupelo Piles Up the Points Against Lewisburg

Tupelo waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Lewisburg Patriots 49-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Golden Wave's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked second, while the Patriots are ranked 132nd).

Tupelo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaeden Hill led the charge by rushing for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Hill really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. Braylen Williams was another key player, rushing for 11 yards and a pair of TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Tupelo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 350 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Tupelo didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Trace Wilson and Iverson McCoy.

Tupelo's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Lewisburg, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Tupelo is set to take on their familiar foe DeSoto Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,022 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Lewisburg will square off against rival Horn Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
