Basketball Recap: Raines Comes Up Short

After soaring to 59 points the game before, Raines was a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They were beaten by the Ponte Vedra Sharks 62-29. The game marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Raines still got an impressive performance from Jesus Rice, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points.

Ponte Vedra's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddox Palmer led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds Palmer has posted since back in February of 2024. Trace Westercamp was another key player, going 8 of 11 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds.

Raines moved to 7-9 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Ponte Vedra, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Raines will square off against ED White at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Raines is facing ED White at the right time seeing as ED White is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Ponte Vedra, they will take on Andrew Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ponte Vedra has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
