Softball Game Preview: Bishop Watterson Eagles vs. Whetstone Braves

The Bishop Watterson Eagles will face off against the Whetstone Braves at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bishop Watterson has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight defeats, while Whetstone will come in with four straight wins.

Bishop Watterson came up short against Upper Arlington on Saturday, falling 21-3.

Bishop Watterson saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Abens, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Jackie Kirk also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Whetstone made easy work of Mifflin on Monday and carried off a 17-3 victory. The Braves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by ten runs or more this season.

Gabby Millane looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit.

At the plate, Lily Loman-Antoine and Bella Hittle did most of the damage at the plate: Loman-Antoine went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Hittle went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Hittle has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Alena Synadinos, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Bishop Watterson's loss dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Whetstone, their win bumped their record up to 13-11.
